Austria is renowned for the quality and freshness of its food which is paramount at all good restaurants. My experience I am pleased to say that is that you will struggle to to get a bad meal! quality seems to come with every meal and at every course.
My advice is come and find out for yourself? The advantage of self catering accommodation is that you have the choice to eat in or out. Perhaps having a breakfast at a mountain restaurant or staying late in Salzburg or Innsbruck and eating at a restaurant / bistro there, or just walking down into the village and taking your choice.
